Rocky Mountain National Park
We were excited to check out Estes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park! Our route actually took us through the park on the way to Jellystone RV Park, where we spent the week. We hauled our 42 ft. RV on the famous Trail Ridge Rd. through the park. We took it easy and enjoyed the stunning views.
After we left the park and drove to our RV park, we passed a lake where 2 huge male elk were playing in the water! There were people right by the elk too! It was an interesting sight.
Our RV Park: Jellystone Estes Park
Jellystone was a park with full hookups and amenities. There were 2 playgrounds, a pool, an arcade, a jumping pillow and putt putt course. The kids loved all the fun things! The one big downside was that we didn’t have cell service. There was campground wifi that was actually pretty decent, but inconsistent at times.
Hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park
When we returned to the park, we hiked Emerald Lake Trail, which was beautiful and a good workout. In the park we saw marmots, elk and deer. Even in the town of Estes park, we saw a ton of elk walking around! The town was pretty crowded and touristy.
We met up with some good friends, the Selm family, while we were there and had a blast riding bikes at the local pump track! The adults and kids alike had fun on the track! Estes Park was a nice place to visit, but not a place I’d rush back to revisit. We were excited to move on and explore more of CO after our time there!
