Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, TN

When we found out that the owner of the RV resort we loved so much in Destin was opening one in Pigeon Forge, we couldn’t wait to visit it!

Pigeon Forge RV Resort is a high end resort with amenities such as a luxurious pool with waterslide, beautiful clubhouse with double sided fireplace and immaculate showers. Some of our travel buddies joined us there, and we had some great pool time together!

The Island in Pigeon Forge

We also enjoyed visiting a place called The Island. They have a fountain show that is a smaller version of the Bellagio fountains in Vegas. There are shops, restaurants and rides for the kids! We went two different times and had a blast.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

We headed into Great Smoky Mountains National Park one day and stopped in the Visitor Center for a bit. Sugarland Visitor Center usually is a great place to stop and has stuffed animals and a film about the park, but due to Covid, those features weren’t available.

We then headed out to hike Chimney Tops Trail. This hike is rated difficult and is 4.5 miles round trip. Elevation gain is 1,358 ft and there are a TON of steps to climb! Unfortunately, due to a fire, the last portion of the hike is closed off, so we didn’t make it to the very end. This hike kicked my butt and made me realize that being in flat Florida for 6 months really made my hiking legs weak!!

It was tough and the next few days it hurt to walk! It was great exercise though, and a fun excursion with friends. There was a river and we got in several times to play and cool down.

Ober Gatlinburg

We drove into Gatlinburg twice and had a blast at Ober Gatlinburg, an amusement park in the spring/summer/fall, and a ski area in the winter. To get up to the resort, we took the Aerial Tramway, which is one of America’s largest aerial tramways (over 2 miles long with a 1,500 foot rise in elevation!)

Once we arrived at the top, we rode rides, saw animals, took the chair lift to the top of the mountain to experience breathtaking views, listened to a bluegrass band and had a good ‘ole time! We went with friends and everyone loved it.

Doing anything with friends is fun, and we had a really nice time in this area with our road buddies. I would love to come back when it’s fall and the leaves are all changing! I bet it’s even BETTER then.
